USTA Texas Shows Austin PRIDE

This past September the USTA Texas Section attended the 2012 Austin PRIDE Festival with one goal in mind: YOUnify and Celebrate people through tennis; the theme for this years pride festival. With the help of staff and volunteers, USTA Texas was able to take advantage of the thousands of people who walked through the gates by manning a booth with information on how to get involved in local tennis and different programs the USTA has to offer.  They also created a mini court with the help of a  pop up net to give attendees the chance to pick up a racquet. The festival included unlimited carnival themed games and activities, free photo booths, face painting, balloon twisters, drinks, carnival foods, and over 100 booths featuring local businesses and non-profits that support Austin's LGBTQ community.

Proceeds from the PRIDE Festival will benefit various local non-profits, including this year's featured Austin PRIDE Cares beneficiaries: AIDS Services of Austin; Out Youth; Transgender Education Network of Texas; and Equality Texas. USTA Texas is proud to have been a part of the 2012 Austin Pride Festival and will look forward to participating in 2013!
