Our 10 and Under Tennis programs introduce tennis to children based on age, physical size and ability. By modifying the court dimensions (36-foot or 60-foot in length), equipment (appropriately sized tennis racquets and red, orange or green balls), net height and scoring system, coupled with a play component, children develop better technical and point-playing skills.

PROGRAMS

Ages 2 ½-4 years
  • Mommy and Me (Adult/Child) On-Court Activity - Interactive adult and child play time introducing the fundamentals of tennis in a game-based environment. Skill building - motor skills; movement and balance exercises through fun activities and games. Use of red foam and feltbBalls and 36-foot Red Courts. Recommended: 1-2 days a week.
Ages 4-6 years
  • 10U RED 1 - Players are introduced to the fundamentals of tennis through activities designed to build a solid foundation for long term athletic development. Activities are focused on developing the ABCs (agility, balance and coordination) all while forming the skills necessary to serve, rally and score. Use of red foam and felt balls and 36-foot Red Courts. Recommended: 1-2 days a week.
Ages 6-8 years
  • 10U RED 2 - In this class, players continue to sharpen their ABCs (agility, balance and coordination) while beginning to develop more dynamic movement and footwork patterns that focus on sending and receiving. Introduction to topspin and underspin on both forehand and backhand strokes and the different grips used. Ability to intentionally place the ball short, deep and side-to-side is crucial before graduating to next level. Typically, this is the developmental stage with the greatest duration. Red felt balls on a 36-foot Red Court. Recommended: 1-2 days a week.
Ages 8-10 years
  • 10U ORANGE - Players in this class are progressing from the 36-foot Red Court to the 60-foot Orange Court. This class continues to build upon the sound athletic base established in earlier classes while integrating more complex movement and footwork skills. Players will utilize directional control, spin and positioning to their advantage while also being able to consistently rally and cooperate with a partner. Being able to maintain proper technique during points and the ability to place ball on serve is a necessity before graduating to the next level. Orange balls on 60-foot Orange Court. Recommended: 2 days a week.
  • 10U GREEN 1 (QSMO) - Players in this class are technically sound and tactically engaged. Players are beginning to determine their style of play and how it matches up with other styles. This class will incorporate both singles and doubles strategy and play. Orange balls on 60-foot Orange Court and green balls on 78-foot Green Court. Recommended: At least 2 days a week at this level.
  • 10U GREEN 2 (QSTP) - Academy-10U - At this stage of the development pathway, players have chosen tennis as a primary sport and are actively and regularly participating in 8U or 10U tournaments. Players are now working on developing weapons in their game and implementing more advanced patterns of play. Players will be experimenting with singles and doubles tactics as well as the foundation of mental toughness. Green balls on 78-foot Green Court. Recommended: At least 2 days a week at this level. See Academy.
