The following test has been written from the Rules of Tennis (or Appendixes), The Code, and USTA Tournament Regulations as contained in the 2011 Friend at Court (FAC). It is an OPEN BOOK test. Take as much time as you need. The purpose is to be instructional. There will be no "failures."
The test is 60 questions. The odd numbered questions will have multiple choice answers. The even numbered questions will have multiple choice reference answers for the preceding question. Take the test and answer sheet with you to a Provisional School. There the instructor will grade your test, and ask you to look up sources for any missed questions. Return the corrected answer sheet to the instructor, thereby "passing" the test.
In some cases your Sectional or District chairman will have you return the test directly to him/her without you going to a Provisional school. This may expedite your entry into the world of officiating.
Please mark your answers on the answer sheet only. Shade in the correct answer (shade darkly). You may keep the test for further study.
There are 2 versions of this test you can. The online version can be taken for those comfortable on computers. The results from the online exam will be forwarded to your Sectional Chairperson. You can also use the answer sheet to do the test in hard copy format. You must send the answer sheet to the Sectional Chairperson of officials for grading if you choose this format.
