FOR YOUR INFORMATION: THE USTA COMMITTEE APPOINTMENT PROCESS

620X175
USTA national committee volunteers serve a two-year term (the next one is January 2015-December 2016) on one or more national committees. The council/committee structure is not necessarily identical from term to term, but there are roughly forty committees, ranging from Tennis Rules & Regulations to Junior Competition to Sport Science.

Individuals may apply for a committee appointment using the USTA National Volunteer Application. Traditionally, each USTA section makes endorsements to the USTA President for appointment as well. It is not required to be a USTA section or district volunteer prior to serving on a national committee (although USTA membership is mandatory); however, many national volunteers have participated in their local communities in some way before serving at the national level.

Persons who wish to serve on a national committee must submit a USTA National Volunteer Application by Sept. 22, 2014, via the online submission process. All applications are considered. The Advisory Group on Committees (AGC) works with the incoming USTA President to facilitate the committee appointment process. Final selection is made in December 2014 prior to the start of the new term in January 2015.

Deadline for submission of applications to serve on a national committee starting in January 2015 is Sept. 22, 2014.
