USTA High Performance Coaching Program held in Boca Raton

January 23, 2013 11:00 AM
Coaches at the first High Performance Coaching Program of 2013.
Earlier this month, 22 coaches traveled to Boca Raton, Fla., to attend the first High Performance Coaching Program of 2013. The program was conducted at the USTA’s Training Center Headquarters in Boca Raton, on the campus of the Evert Academy.

The four-day workshop presented the participating coaches with a framework for teaching and training High Performance junior players that is based on the USTA Player Development Teaching and Coaching Philosophy. Workshop speakers included Paul Lubbers, Tom Gullikson, Jay Berger, David Ramos and Geoff Russell. The presentations were both in the classroom and on the court.

The USTA High Performance Coaching Program was created to provide direct and indirect coaching education opportunities to coaches working with players who are striving for excellence in tennis (i.e., nationally ranked junior players, top collegiate players and young professionals). The USTA Coaching Education Department established the educational component in cooperation with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).
