Collin Altamirano was a quarterfinalist at the Sunrise, Fla., Futures.

The monthly USTA Player Development Player and Coach Honor Roll recognizes the top performing young Americans and their coaches each month.

Here’s a look at some of the most outstanding performances turned in by American tennis players ages 20 and younger in February:

Collin Altamirano (Dec. 7, 1995), Yuba City, Calif. – Altamirano advanced to the quarterfinals of the USTA Pro Circuit $10,000 Futures in Sunrise, Fla. He is coached by Joseph Gilbert.

Gabby Andrews (Dec. 23, 1996), Pomona, Calif. – Andrews, the former US Open and Australian Open junior doubles champion, reached the singles final of the Condor De Plata ITF junior event in La Paz, Bolivia, falling to fellow American Raquel Pedraza in the title match. She is coached by Barry Friedman.

Deiton Baughman (April 23, 1996), Carson, Calif. – Baughman advanced to the quarterfinals of the USTA Pro Circuit $10,000 Futures in Sunrise, Fla. He is coached by his father, Brad.

Kalman Boyd (April 9, 1997), Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. – Boyd reached the singles semifinals of the Condo De Plata ITF junior event in La Paz, Bolivia. He is coached by Jimmy Johnson.

Liam Caruana (Jan. 22, 1998), New Braunfels, Texas – Caruana performed well in two ITF junior tournaments in Mexico, reaching the singles final at the Queretaro Junior Cup in Queretaro, then advancing to the singles quarterfinals of the Jalicso Junior Cup in Guadalajara. He is coached by his father, Max.

Louisa Chirico (May 16, 1996), Harrison, N.J. – Chirico reached the singles quarterfinals at the USTA Pro Circuit $25,000 women’s event in Surprise, Ariz. She works with USTA National Coach Jay Gooding.

Jenna Friedel (Oct. 21, 1997), Mill Valley, Calif. – Friedel advanced all the way to the girls’ singles final of the Queretaro Junior Cup in Queretaro, Mexico, before having to retire in the second set of the title match. She is coached by Lawrence Carpio.

Megan Horn (Feb. 4, 1998), Boca Raton, Fla. – Horn won the doubles title at the Jalisco Junior Cup event in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is coached by Adrian Zeman.

Mwendwa Mbithi (Jan. 10, 1998), Succasunna, N.J. – Mbithi won the boys’ singles title at the Kenya International Junior Championships in Nairobi. He is coached by his father, Jackson.

Raquel Pedraza (Jan. 28, 1998), Claremont, Calif. – Pedraza had an outstanding two weeks in South America, reaching the singles final at the Inka Bowl ITF junior event in Lima, Peru, and winning the singles title at the Condor De Plata ITF junior event in La Paz, Bolivia, beating fellow American Gabby Andrews in the final. She is coached by Freddie Rodriguez

Sydney Riley (Dec. 10, 1997), Dallas – Riley left Mexico with a pair of ITF junior titles, winning the singles championship at the Jalisco Junior Cup in Guadalajara and the doubles title at the Queretaro Junior Cup in Queretaro, with Hada Chang (July 10, 1998; Trophy Club, Texas), where she also reached the singles semifinals. She is coached by Dave Licker.

Logan Smith (Oct. 29, 1996), Carlsbad, Calif. -- Smith advanced to the singles semifinals and the doubles final at the Inka Bowl ITF Junior event in Lima, Peru.

Francis Tiafoe (Jan. 20, 1998), College Park, Md. – Tiafoe, the reigning Metropolia Orange Bowl boys’ champion, qualified and reached his second straight USTA Pro Circuit $10,000 Futures quarterfinals in Sunrise, Fla. He is coached by Misha Kouznetsov.

Claudia Wiktorin (Dec. 6, 1996), Davidson, N.C. – Wiktorin won the doubles championship at the Copenhagen Winter Cup junior event in Denmark, then reached the singles semifinals at the ITF Oslo Open in Norway. She trains at the Sanchez-Casal Academy.
