After-school spaces are critical to both the physical and educational development of our youth. The USTA is providing major cities and small communities with dynamic after-school programs that successfully merge tennis and education through our National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network.

USTA Jr. Team Tennis

Norcross (12)

USTA Jr. Team Tennis connects kids together in teams to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other teams within a league. It promotes social skills and important values by fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity, as well as self-growth. It’s a fun environment for kids in which they learn that succeeding is really more about how they play the game – win or lose.

Adopt-A-School

457x305Schools

The Adopt-a-School initiative is designed to utilize the talent and energy of USTA volunteers, USTA staff, tennis professionals and tennis enthusiasts to help implement tennis within schools and connect to after-school and summer programs. Existing local school associations will be targeted, such as PTAs and PTOs, in coordination with Jr. Team Tennis providers, NJTL Chapters, CTAs and Parks, to help institute tennis into the following areas:

•  Tennis in Physical Education: www.usta.com/youth-tennis/schools/peteachers/

•  10 and under Tennis using the QuickStart Tennis Play Format: 10andundertennis.com/

•  No-Cut School Tennis Teams: www.usta.com/no-cut-school-tennis-teams/

Our School Tennis Handbook is now available for individuals and after-school providers interested in reaching out to schools. Click Here

Moving forward, it is essential for registered advocates to work closely with their USTA Section and/or District office to maximize the support and resources that are available for school-based initiatives, including training, equipment assistance, grants and staff consulting. To get involved in reaching out to schools, contact your local school tennis represenative at: School Coordinator Map

So get on the bus and help us take tennis to schools!
