Awards Luncheon during the USTA Annual Meeting & Conference
ELIGIBILITY
A female person who meets the following criteria.
CRITERIA
1. Nominee must be a female member of the USTA.
2. Nominee must meet the leadership qualifications as stated in the following description of the Award:
To be considered for the award, the nominee, through her volunteering must have shown leadership abilities and been a source of inspiration and encouragement to others to become volunteers and assume active leadership roles in the USTA.
In evaluating the Barbara Williams Leadership Award nominations, the USTA Awards Committee will take into consideration only the information that pertains to the criteria of the award. In the evaluation process, the Committee will place major emphasis on the tennis-related volunteer work and leadership qualifications.
SELECTION PROCESS
Sections nominate a person meeting the criteria and the Awards committee votes and the results are based on a weighted average.
TIMETABLE
Mid-September: Solicitations sent out to Sections
Late October: Nominations due to Awards Committee
Mid-November: Recipient selected
March/April: Presentation of the award at the USTA Annual Meeting Awards Luncheon

HISTORY
2003 was the inaugural year for the Barbara Williams Leadership Award to honor the late Barbara Williams by recognizing a female volunteer who through her leadership and by her example has encouraged and inspired others to become volunteers and assume leadership roles at the community, section and/or national levels of the United States Tennis Association.
YEARBOOK DESCRIPTION
The Barbara Williams Leadership Award was established in 2003 to honor the late Barbara Williams, a long-time USTA volunteer who gave unselfishly of her time and energy to promote the sport of tennis. This award recognizes a female volunteer who through her leadership and by her example has encouraged and inspired others to become volunteers and assume leadership roles at the community, sectional, and/or national levels of the United States Tennis Association.
