NO-CUT STARFISH AWARD
PRESENTED AT
USTA Community Tennis Development Workshop
ELIGIBILITY
The Starfish Award recognizes high school coaches who implement a No-Cut policy for their tennis teams. These coaches serve as positive role models and make a difference by spending the extra time and effort to ensure that thousands of young players experience the fun of representing their high school tennis teams.
CRITERIA
Candidates for the award are current coaches (not retired) who have implemented a No-Cut tennis team program, are currently registered with the USTA as a No-Cut coach and have been coaching for a minimum of 5 years.
SELECTION PROCESS
Nominations are submitted by the Section Schools Coordinator, reviewed for eligibility and then submitted to a selection committee. The committee is comprised of individuals from the No-Cut Advisory Team, USTA Schools Committee volunteers and USTA National Staff.

Nomination forms are distributed to Sections in May
Nominations are due in June
Selections are made in the fall

HISTORY
The Starfish Award was first presented in 2005 by Kirk Anderson, USTA Director of Recreational Coaches and Programs to recognize outstanding no-cut coaches that made a profound impact on young peoples’ lives through tennis.
YEARBOOK DESCRIPTION
This award recognizes the high school coach who goes above and beyond in implementing a no-cut policy for his/her tennis team. The selection of the recipient is made by the USTA No-Cut Star Fish Award Committee from nominations submitted by the 17 USTA Sections.
