US OPEN SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
PRESENTED AT
The US Open
ELIGIBILITY
The US Open Sportsmanship award is presented to one male and one female professional tennis player who best demonstrates excellence in sportsmanship throughout the Emirates Airline US Open Series (EAUSOS) and the US Open. To be eligible players must participate in at least two Series tournaments as well as the US Open.
CRITERIA
The male and female player must distinguish themselves by exhibiting consistent and high level sportsmanship both on and off court.
SELECTION PROCESS
The US Open Sportsmanship Award recipients will be selected by a committee in consultation with the US Open Tournament Director.

HISTORY
2012 will be the inaugural year for the US Open Sportsmanship Award which hopes to recognize the positive impact that athletes can make in promoting excellence in sportsmanship through the game of tennis.
YEARBOOK DESCRIPTION
This award recognizes one male and one female professional tennis player who best demonstrate excellence in sportsmanship throughout the Emirates Airline US Open Series (EAUSOS) and the US Open Championship. Further, this award will help raise awareness of the USTA's emphasis on sportsmanship at all levels of the game. In addition to a handsome trophy each will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity of his or her choice.
