Packing Tips

The following shipping tips have proven successful for other Adopt A Unit efforts.

USPS Flat Rate Boxes are recommended for packing for small, heavy items (hand sanitizer, wipes, etc.).  Lighter items (razors, socks, etc.) can go in larger boxes and be shipped USPS Parcel Post.

All boxes must have a shipping label as well as a customs form. The organizer can pick up Large APO Flat-rate boxes from the Post Office along with one customs form per box. Address labels should be printed out prior to your Packing Party.

The images and descriptions below will help to guide your packing step by step.

Be certain to put clear tape over the mailing label so it stays put and does not smudge or wash off.

Please see the proper way to fill out the Customs Declaration Form.  One must be filled out for each box being mailed.  Please note that this should be completed with your  personal information.  The sample is for reference only.  Please fill in your own unit's name/address, DO NOT copy this sample.  Click here to see an enlarged view of the label.
