The United States Tennis Association hosted a tennis training for members of the Army and Navy /Coast Guard wounded warrior teams who competed in the Annual USOC Warrior Games in May in Colorado Springs, CO. USTA representatives and coaches were joined by volunteers from Pikes Peak Community Tennis Association and the Colorado Wheelchair Tennis Foundation to help with the event. This was the second year the USTA has hosted the training. The training was part of the larger military outreach effort of the USTA. Information on programs to support military service members, veterans and their families as well as wounded warriors can be found at usta.com/military
Plans are underway to begin a wounded warrior tennis therapy clinic at the Ft. Carson Warrior Transition Unit this summer. Tennis pros and volunteers from the area can contact Diane Kosakowski at
ppcta.org@gmail.com to be placed on a list of interested volunteers.
