Improve Your Tennis Program with...
USTA Recreational Coach Workshops!
To encourage the development of tennis, the United States Tennis Association (USTA), in cooperation with the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), is pleased to conduct a nationwide program for individuals who are teaching and coaching players new to the game and/or at the earlier levels of skill development.
Each Recreational Coach Workshop is conducted by an outstanding certified tennis professional specially trained to effectively handle groups and get kids and adults to play tennis quickly in a fun and social atmosphere. This active 6-hour session covers:
Teaching large groups
The games-based approach to coaching
Running effective team practices
Games and drills every coach should know
Each workshop participant receives youth and adult curriculum materials, team practice information, and samples of innovative tennis transition balls aimed at accelerating the learning process.
Past attendees include:
Parents seeking the basics in coaching and organizing team tennis
Park and Recreation instructors, high school, and seasonal coaches
Coaches teaching kids and adults who are new to the game
Current players seeking part-time teaching jobs
If your agency is interested in hosting one of these workshops, please e-mail rcw@usta.com.
- The USTA will fund the host agency for conducting the workshop and cover the expenses of a national trainer to deliver the course.
- A minimum of 20 participants are required for the workshop. The RCW can be offered to neighboring communities by the host location, in order to reach the minimum.
