2013 Senior Cup and World Championships Information:
Date of Event: The Senior Cups will be played in Antalya, Turkey in 2013 from March 18-23 (with March 24th being a rain day). The Senior Individual World Championships will be played the 24-31 of March at the same site. The surface is red clay. The ITF will publish fact sheets with information about these Cups and the Individual World Championships later this year at www.itftennis.com/seniors.
USTA Senior Cup Team Selection Dates: The Senior World Cup Teams for 2013 will be selected December 9th 2012 for the men and women (age 35-55).
Guidelines: The 2013 Guidelines will be used to select the 2013 Senior Teams. They can be found by clicking here. Note that there is a new review process for players who believe they were erroneously left off of a team. The Cup event itself is no longer a qualifying tournament. The review request form can be found by clicking here.
Selection Timeframe for Results: The results considered in selecting the 2013 Senior Cups is all results from 2011 and January1-December 9 2012. Please read the 2013 Guidelines for further information and minimum play requirements.
Super Senior Results from Croatia: The USA won seven of the ten Cups contested in Croatia, and finished second in two others. It was the best showing ever by the USA at the Super Senior Cups. The USA won the Men’s Von Cramm (60), Britannia (65), Bitsy Grant (75) and Gardnar Mully (80) and the Women’s Alice Marble (60), Althea Gibson (70) and Queens (75) Cups. Other News: Beginning January 1, 2013, the Senior International Competition Committee will cease to exist. The duties of this Committee will be handled by a subcommittee of the Adult and Senior Competition Committee. Frank Kelly is the incoming chair of that Committee.
