INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – After an exciting day of tennis action at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Friday’s matches have concluded at the 2012 USTA League 4.0 Senior National Championships.
Saturday’s remaining flight matches, which begin at 7:30 a.m. (PDT), will determine the eight teams (four men’s and four women’s) that will advance to Sunday’s semifinals.
In Flight 1, the Southwest Section and Southern women’s teams are tied for first place with 2-0 records. Both teams have two remaining flight matches on Saturday, including a crucial head-to-head match that will begin at approximately 2 p.m. (PDT).
In Flight 2, the Southern California Section women’s team sits at the top of the standings with a 2-0 mark. They will play the Intermountain Section (0-2) on Saturday. Southern California can clinch a spot in the semifinals with a victory over the Intermountain Section.
The Middle States Section women’s team is in first place in Flight 3 with a 2-0 record. They will face Texas (1-1) on Saturday and will advance to Sunday’s semifinals with a win.
The Missouri Valley Section women’s team is undefeated and in first place in Flight 4 at 2-0. They will play the New England Section (1-1) on Saturday. A victory would send Missouri Valley to the semifinals.
In Flight 5, the men’s Caribbean Section team and the Southern Section men’s team ended the day tied for first place with 2-0 records. Both teams will play their final two flight matches on Saturday including a head-to-head match at approximately 2 p.m. (PDT).
The Texas Section men’s team is tied with the Pacific Northwest Section men’s team for the top spot in Flight 6 at 1-0. Each team has two remaining matches including a head-to-head encounter scheduled for 7:30 a.m. (PDT) on Saturday.
In Flight 7, the Missouri Valley Section men scored victories over the Southwest Section (1-1) and Southern California Section (0-2) to finish the day in first place at 2-0. They will play the Northern California Section (1-1) with an opportunity to advance to the semifinals.
