Jason Harnett / National Coach
Jason Harnett became a member of the USTA's national wheelchair coaching staff in 1998 as the head coach of the Quadriplegic Team at World Team Cup, Barcelona, Spain. Harnett was the "Quad" coach from 1998 until 2012, with a one year hiatus in 2002. Now, Harnett is the World Team Cup Men's Coach. Harnett has coached the Quad team successfully to 7 World Championships starting in 1998 (Barcelona) followed by 2003 (Sopot, Poland), 2005 (Groningen, Netherlands) and 2006 (Brasilia, Brazil), 2007, 2010, and 2011. He has coached 5 former and current World #1 players: Rick Draney, Brian Hanson, Chris Studwell and most recently David Wagner and Nick Taylor. Harnett was named Assistant Coach at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Paralympic Games. Harnett is a member of the USPTA and was named the 2000 and 2007 Wheelchair Coach of the Year for the Southern California/USPTA Section. He is currently the Head Professional for the City of Mission Viejo, Calif. where he has taught since 1996.Harnett has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington, 1994, where he also played tennis for the Huskies for 4 years, finishing as captain in 1994.
