Besides the everyday ways of recruiting for volunteers, try some of these methods that might reach people in different ways than you are used to:
* get local media to highlight your tennis volunteers on TV or in print
* pencils with your district/section email that say “Volunteer”
* hand out volunteer “coupons” in public place (grocery, downtown)
* give incentives to current volunteers to bring in new ones (gift certificate, free lessons)
* set up a booth at community fairs and events
* have an easel outside your office with info on both sides
* make bumper stickers to distribute that say “I brake for tennis players” with your website address
* ask local tennis pros to nominate their best students (youth and adults) to be volunteers
* make a presentation on campus to fraternities/sororities or the varsity/club tennis teams
* visit tennis facilities and shops to distribute/post information and announce your volunteer needs
* place ad for volunteers in local arts/events weekly newspaper
* post fliers in laundromats, libraries, pharmacies, dry cleaners, etc.
* wrap gifts during the holidays at the local mall to raise awareness of your program
* share volunteer needs with community centers and places of worship to spread the word
* have a “bring a friend” day for every current volunteer to bring a friend to your organization’s next event
* register with online volunteer matching programs such as www.volunteermatch.org
* hand out candy bars with labels (“Take a break-play tennis” and your contact info on a Kit-Kat bar)
