The ITF announced the official team nominations for the 2007 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Quarterfinals to be played on April 6-8.
Nominated to play in the sold-out tie between the United States and Spain to be held at the Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, team captains Patrick McEnroe and Emilio Sanchez selected several highly-ranked players.
Sticking with the mainstays that have carried the team over the past five ties, McEnroe nominated third-ranked Andy Roddick, eighth-ranked James Blake, and the top-ranked doubles team in the world, Bob and Mike Bryan.
Visiting Spain nominated sixth-ranked Tommy Robredo, No. 14 David Ferrer, and their likely doubles tandem, No. 84 Feliciano Lopez and No. 33 Fernando Verdasco. A surprise omission, Rafael Nadal will not suit up for his country.
Roddick, the team leader with a singles record of 22-9, is a career 7-0 against Robredo, including a straight-set victory in Davis Cup competition in 2002. Roddick has taken two of three matches against Ferrer, including a straight-sets victory over the Spaniard recently at the 2007 Sony Ericsson Open.
Blake, 12-8 over his Davis Cup career, is 1-0 against Ferrer and 3-2 against Robredo.
Versus will air live coverage daily at 2 p.m. ET and The Tennis Channel will air a primetime rebroadcast each evening beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

The best-of-five match series features two singles matches on Friday, the doubles rubber on Saturday, and the reverse singles on Sunday.
A three-day sellout crowd of 14,453 will root on the Americans in their quest to take the next step toward winning the prestigious Davis Cup.
The winner of the quarterfinal tie will meet either Argentina or Sweden in the World Group Semifinals. If the United States can defeat Spain, they are guaranteed to travel abroad for the next round of Davis Cup competition.
