Number of Competitors: 172 (maximum)

Nominations: Maximum of 6 men, of which a maximum of 4 men may compete in the singles event, and a maximum of 2 doubles teams may compete in the doubles event. Maximum of 6 women, of which a maximum of 4 women may compete in the singles event, and a maximum of 2 doubles teams may compete in the doubles event.

Selection Date Recognised: World Rankings of June 9, 2008 will be used to select players eligible for Direct Acceptance in singles and doubles.

Selection Procedures of Singles events: 56 players will qualify as Direct Acceptances based on the recognised Singles World Rankings of June 9, 2008. 6 ITF Places will be allocated by the ITF based on the recognised Singles World Rankings and the continental/NOC representation. 2 Invitation places will be allocated by the Tripartite Commission.

Selection Procedures of Doubles events: players ranked in the Top 10 on the recognised Doubles World Rankings of June 9, 2008 will be eligible for Direct Acceptance providing their partner has a recognised World Ranking, they are entered by their respective NOC/NA, and their nomination does not bring the number of athletes for that NOC to more than 6. ITF Places will be allocated by the ITF to doubles teams based on the recognised Singles and Doubles World Rankings and the continental/NOC representation, and ensuring a maximum of 172 competitors.

All players must make him/herself available for selection to represent his/her country in any of the InternationalTeam Championships of the Federation for two of the following years – 2005, 2006, 2007 or 2008 - provided that one of those years is either 2007 or 2008. In 2005, 2006, 2007 or 2008, a player who makes him/herself available for selection for one Tie in Davis Cup or Fed Cup will be deemed to have fulfilled the requirement for that year.
