QuickStart for 7-8 Year Olds: Partner Tossing and Catching

Partner ball tossing and catching:

  • Roll the ball to a partner from about 6-8 feet apart. Start with one ball and then do two balls at the same time
  • One player underhand tosses, one player bounce passes
  • One player with two ball in their hand tosses two balls stacked sided by side. Partner catches balls on one bounce or two bounces
  • One player with two balls in their hand tosses two balls stacked on top of each other. Partner catches on one or two bounces.
Turn and catch. Both players are facing in the same direction the back person has a ball and tosses it up in the air between the two players. They call out the partner’s name. When they hear their name, they turn around, find the ball and catch it after one bounce. To increase the difficulty, have the front person trap the ball against their strings of their racquet in the ideal contact zone.
