USTA.com: When did you discover that you had the talent to win as a team?
We knew that we all had the great individual talents on our team, and after we were able to help one another and work as a team, we knew we could win big matches.
USTA.com: How does your team unwind after a day of matches?
Going to dinner and hanging out at someone’s apartment, just being ourselves.
USTA.com: When you qualified, how did you celebrate?
We went out to a great dinner, after which the returning members shared their best memories from our previous Nationals trip. We made a game plan to prepare ourselves as well as possible.
USTA.com: Tell us a bit about how your school is unique.
We all have such interesting tennis backgrounds and a strong passion for playing. Our team plays to win, but we also play to enjoy ourselves. We’re friends first, then teammates. We also do not just have the focus on one team; we all support every team representing Baylor Club Tennis. On and off the court, we are there for one another through wins and losses. Not many club teams have the friendships that we all share.
USTA.com: If you were to list THREE specific things that need to happen in order to win a National Championship, they would be:
- Have belief in your skills and abilities to win a national championship
- Be mentally and physically prepared
- Fight for every point, game, set and match!
USTA.com: How do you exhibit school spirit?
Through the most obnoxious, loud and crazy cheers!
