USTA SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR BEST TENNIS TOWN: WINNERS TO RECEIVE $100,000, $50,000 AND $25,000 PRIZES

As some of you may know, the USTA is launching a promotion seeking the Best Tennis Town in America this summer and want you to be a part of it. Before we cover off on how you can be a part of this promotion, here is some more background information for those who may not be familiar with it.

The USTA is inviting every town, borough and city across the nation to compete for the title of Best Tennis Town. To participate, they must register online at www.besttennistown.com and complete a submission form, put together a five minute video highlighting the passion their community has for tennis and up to five letters of support from local politicians and community members. A panel will review all the entries to narrow the selection process to the top ten finalists. Beginning in mid-July for two weeks, the general public will view the videos and vote for who they think is the Best Tennis Town in America. The top three finalists will attend the US Open with the winner to be announced the event. The top prize is $100,000 and the title of Best Tennis Town. The second place winner will receive $50,000 and the third place winner will receive $25,000. The rest of the top ten finalists will receive $2,000 worth of tennis equipment.

So how can you help? We have sent a Direct Mail postcard along with an HTML e-mail, both of which are attached, to mayors and other elected officials along with Park and Recreation leaders in communities across the country asking them to spearhead the effort and work with their tennis community to nominate their town/city. We are asking you to help generate interest in this promotion by contacting elected officials and park and recreation leaders in your area encouraging them to participate. You might even volunteer to assist with the nomination for your town. More information and the complete rules and regulations are posted on www.besttennistown.com. Please note, USTA employees and their families are not eligible to participate in the nomination process outside of providing informational data.

We hope you will support this promotion and encourage your elected officials to participate. Thank you in advance for your support.
