Where to look for volunteers

Tuesday, May 27, 2008 3:00 PM

Where to look for volunteers depends on what kind of volunteer need you have. If you needed tournament drivers to shuttle players from hotel to stadium, you wouldn't advertise in an elementary school. You want to match your volunteer needs with where you can recruit from. Try this:

1. Figure out what your volunteer needs are (what will volunteers do for your tennis program or event?).

2. Determine the best places to market those volunteer needs that will supply you with the appropriate kinds of volunteers.

The attached worksheet can guide you through the process.  Then, put your marketing skills to work on reaching out to those potential volunteers.  Here are some possible ways to get your message heard:

flyers posters newsletters

speak at meetings bulletin board notices "tickets" on windshields

door hangers email postcards

table tents in mall food courts radio public service announcements table/booth at event

free event tickets banner over street newspaper ads
