ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) -- Croatian tennis player Mario Ancic will miss Wimbledon and the Davis Cup against the United States because he has still not regained fitness after suffering mononucleosis two years ago, Croatian media reported Thursday.
Ancic, ranked No. 38 and a former Wimbledon semifinalist, had already pulled out of the French Open at Roland Garros.
"Don't ask me when I'll return, because I don't even know the answer myself," Ancic told Vecernji list and Sportske Novosti dailies. "Health is most important. I have to listen to my body.
"The fact that I canceled my favorite tournament (Wimbledon) and an important match with Americans, tells it all about the seriousness of the situation," Ancic said.
