The Northern California’s women’s team from Redding, California is looking to bring home the 2008 USTA League presented by Chrysler 3.0 Adult Women’s National Championship from Tucson, Arizona this weekend but not everyone on the team was able to make the trip.
Team member Chita Johnson is back at home in the Golden State rooting her team on as she brings the weather forecasts to Sacramento Valley television viewers. Chita (pronounced cheetah) is the daybreak meteorologist for KCRC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Redding.
“We wish Chita could be here with us at the National Championships but we know she is rooting us on from back home,” said team captain Holly Paget.
The team is within two wins of a national championship after going undefeated in its flights on Friday and Saturday after knocking off teams from Intermountain, Florida and Hawaii.
The only question now is if the team from Redding, California wins the National Championship will Chita show the banner during the weathercast.
