National Head Coach-Dan James
Dan James became a member of the USTA’s national wheelchair coaching staff in 1998 as the assistant coach at World Team Cup. James was the men’s head coach in 1999-2005. In 2003 he joined the USTA full time as the National Manager Wheelchair Tennis running the training program for all teams as well as supervising grassroots initiatives. He was the men’s head coach at the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney, Australia and head coach for the 2004 games in Athens. James is a member of the IWTA Wheelchair Tennis Committee and Coach’s Commission, was named 2002 Minnesota Pro of the Year by the PTR, was named the 2003 Wheelchair Tennis Champion by Tennis Industry Magazine, and the 2004 Northern Division Professional of the Year with the USPTA. He is a Professional with the PTR and P1 with the USPTA. James resides in Oakdale, MN.
National Coach-Jason Harnett
Jason Harnett became a member of the USTA's national wheelchair coaching staff in 1998 as the head coach of the Quadriplegic Team at World Team Cup, Barcelona, Spain. Harnett has remained the "Quad" coach since 1998 through present, with a one year hiatus in 2002. Harnett has coached the Quad team successfully to 4 World Championships starting in 1998 (Barcelona) followed by 2003 (Sopot, Poland), 2005 (Groningen, Netherlands) and 2006 (Brasilia, Brazil). He has coached 5 former and current World #1 players: Rick Draney, Brian Hanson, Chris Studwell and most recently David Wagner and Nick Taylor. Harnett was named Assistant Coach at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece. Harnett is a member of the USPTA and was named the 2000 Wheelchair Coach of the Year for the Southern California/USPTA Section. He is currently the Head Professional for the City of Mission Viejo, CA where he has taught since 1996.Harnett has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington, 1994, where he also played tennis for the Huskies for 4 years, finishing as captain in 1994.
