The Colorado Wheelchair Tennis Foundation's mission is to “Promote wheelchair tennis throughout the state of Colorado to players of all ages, sex, race and levels of play; act as a resource to further the development of the state's competitive players; and encourage the incorporation of wheelchair tennis into the mainstream.” We are supported by USTA Colorado as well as from private donations. We are a group of volunteers who are passionate about the game of tennis. The CWTF is run by a volunteer Executive Director who is supported by a Board of Directors. Complete information about the CWTF can be found on our website - www.cwtf.net
Our wheelchair tennis programs run year round, but are most active from April through August during the outdoor tennis season in Colorado. We offer FREE drop-in wheelchair tennis every Monday night for anyone interested throughout the Spring & Summer at Denver’s Washington Park from 5:30-7pm. We offer monthly instructional clinics for wheelchair players that rotate from city to city and facility to facility throughout Colorado. We also host a USTA sanctioned tournament every July in Denver. It’s called the Rocky Mountain Wheelchair Open and we’ve had 20 or more players compete in it each of the last two years. We hope to turn the Rocky Mountain Wheelchair Open into a future stop on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour – come play here next July!
The next big thing coming up for us is an awesome weekend of wheelchair tennis August 21, 22 & 23. The USTA Intermountain Section, in conjunction with USTA Colorado and the Colorado Wheelchair Tennis Foundation will be hosting a Wheelchair Tennis Instructor's Clinic, a Wheelchair Tennis Camp, and 1-up/1-down Tournament at the Ken-Caryl Ranch House tennis facility in South Denver.
The clinic & camp will be led by 3 amazing instructors - Frank Adams & Rich Berman from Colorado along with the USTA's National Wheelchair & USA Paralympic Head Coach - Dan James. The Instructor's Clinic will begin Friday morning and the Player Camp will begin Friday afternoon. The Player Camp will continue on Saturday and the 1-up/1-down Tournament will be on Sunday. Entries are open to players from any state, not just Colorado – so come join us at the end of August for this great event!
