Hey Everyone,
So today was a really rough day for me. I got up the same time as usual and was feeling pretty good after my warm up. I was excited because I got to play on a big court today, and the weather was really nice, as well... the hottest day yet. I had no idea of my opponent, so I didn't know what to expect. She was obviously good to make it to the quarters, so I knew it would be a tough match.
I started out the first game playing unbelievable, and then it kind of went downhill from there, and I lost the first set 6-2. I took a bathroom break and pulled myself together a little bit, and although I wasn't playing my best, I fought for every point and won the second set 6-4. The girl was very consistent, and, to me, it seemed like she was Serena Williams, painting the lines and hitting winners on everything till I realized I was backing off on a lot of balls and hitting many of them in the middle of the court.
From the moment the match began, it was like nothing could go right for me. I was flustered throughout the whole match, and I was more focused on everything going on outside the court than on the match I was playing. I've never let my emotions get this out of hand before. I definetly regret the way I acted, and I think it cost me the match.
I lost the third set 6-3. It was one of those matches where you want to win so badly that you don't allow yourself to play freely. It's disappointing that I lost, but now I just have to regroup and move on.
It was also a tough day for Sloane Stephens, who lost in singles, too. She had a tough match, but she ended the day well, winning her doubles to earn a spot in the semis. Andrea Collarini won his singles today in three sets. He's the only American left in the singles, so we'll be rooting for him!
It was my last day at Roland Garros, which is definetly sad for me. It still is my favorite tournament, and hopefully I'll be back someday for the pros! Tomorrow I'm going sightseeing with my family, so I know that will be a good time.
Thanks so much for letting me blog for you guys. Hopefully I can do it again soon!
