PARIS (AP) -- American twins Bob and Mike Bryan reached the men's doubles quarterfinals at the French Open by beating Mark Knowles of the Bahamas and Xavier Malisse of Belgium 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday.

The second-seeded Bryans won the 2003 French Open and are seeking their record 12th Grand Slam title in men's doubles. They next play Oliver Marach of Austria and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina.

Mike Bryan also made it to the quarterfinals in mixed doubles with Kveta Peschke of the Czech Republic, after Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Horia Tecau retired while trailing 5-3.

Bob Bryan and his mixed doubles partner, Serena Williams, lost in the first round.
