Barbara Wynne - a great ambassador of tennis
If there is anyone who has "been there and done that," it is Barbara Wynne. Barbara has been teaching tennis for more than 40 years. In fact, she (with the help of a friend named Arthur Ashe) founded the Indianapolis NJTL program, then called "Upswing", in 1968 which now has over 2,000 participants. One of the newest and finest public tennis centers in the country just opened in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is named the Barbara Wynne Tennis Center. Steve Belamy, founder of the Tennis Channel participated in her program years ago. The list goes on and on. No matter what the program or the message, Barbara has had the lifelong focus of making the sport of tennis available and accessible to everyone, no matter what their background, ethnicity, financial situation or other. With great success, she has harnessed the sport of tennis in making a positive difference in the lives of thousands and thousands of individuals over the years. Barbara is here this weekend at the 2004 USA Team Tennis National Championships

They always go for it!" This picture of the team playing tennis in the grassy meadows at Randolph Tennis Center is evidence that even when they're not on the court playing a match, they're still having fun and trying to improve.
Team Fun Facts:
- They have a "crazy Russian" on the team (Ivan Sokolov)
- They are one of the youngest teams in the 18
- They almost missed their plane to tucson and were actually running through the airport, like you see in the movies...
- They won their Sectional Championship by a whopping 1 game!

Megan Yoshimoto receives comfort from team
Megan Yoshimoto didn't plan for what was to happen to her on the court this weekend at the 2004 USA Team Tennis National Championships. In an evening Saturday match, Megan severely sprained her ankle and would be forced to retire from the weekend's competition. In fact, she will not be able to play tennis for the next six weeks! Although out for the count, Megan still hopped around on her crutches today in support of her team. She stated, "i'm still having a good time!" Megan's team, Barber's Point Slamming Acers II, is 1-3.
Miami Dream Team still alive! The Miami Dream Team from Miami, Florida has posted a 3-1 record in this weekend's competition. Although they are currently in 2nd place in their flight, they are still in contention for a semi-final birth if their overall winning percentage is greater than the overall winning percentage of the second place team in the other 14 and under division.
