Future Fed Cupper Diary: CoCo Vandeweghe

            Diary Entry #2

Alison, Madison and I got to hit on the red clay for the first time. I quickly realized that it would take some work to get comfortable on the clay.

I must say it’s not the best clay court I’ve ever seen, but it’s only the third one I’ve ever played on. I’m glad I have the chance to work on a different surface than I’m used to.

After practice we had a little break, where Madison, Alison and I all had a chance to hang out. It basically turned into a comedy show.

We went over to the court pretty late and we met up with Vania King and Ahsha Rolle. After everyone had finished hitting, we got back really late to the hotel and then I did what I do best….Sleep! I can tell this week is going to be a lot of fun and hard work.

            Diary Entry #1

Hi, my name is CoCo Vandeweghe.

I was asked to be a member of the U.S. Fed Cup team to Moscow, Russia. My trip started super early on Saturday morning and I didn’t arrive until the middle of Sunday. I traveled with Alison Riske, Madison Brengle and Lori McNeil.

Before the flight we had some interesting in-depth talks with Madison. After a very exhausting 11-hour flight we finally arrived in Moscow.

I must say the weather wasn’t exactly sunny and warm like California, but we were very happy to finally get here. Once we all got to the hotel and met up with a lot of the other team members, we went and had our first team lunch together.

After lunch I was so exhausted that I slept for 15 hours straight! The next day, the team decided that it was a new Fed Cup record. That was my first day in Moscow and I’m really excited to see what the rest of the trip has in store for me.
