History repeats itself. And if it continues, CiCi Bellis will have a very bright future in tennis.

Bellis swept the singles and doubles titles at Les Petits As in Tarbes, France, this past weekend, putting the 13-year old from San Francisco among elite company.

Seeded third, Bellis defeated top-seeded Andrea Amalia Rosca of Romania, 6-1, 6-2, for the singles title. With the win, Bellis became the first American girl to win the Les Petits As singles crown since Bethanie Mattek in 1999, and she joined Kim Clijsters, Martina Hingis and Rafael Nadal as champions of the prestigious 14-and-under event.

Bellis also claimed the doubles title in Tarbes, teaming with Jaeda Daniel (13, Port Charlotte, Fla.) to defeat Magdalena Pantuckova and Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic, 6-3, 7-5, in the final.

The dual victories completed a perfect trip for Bellis, one of four American girls and boys who traveled to Europe with USTA Lead National Coach Leo Azevedo and USTA National Coach Andy Brandi. She also won the singles and doubles at the prestigious AEGON Junior International Teen Tennis in Bolton, England, two weeks earlier to go 22-0 in the two renowned 14-and-under tournaments.

Other American champions at Les Petits As include Michael Chang and Donald Young, while Lindsay Davenport was a finalist. Last year, up-and-coming American teenager Francis Tiafoe won the boys’ singles titles at Les Petits As and AEGON Junior International Teen Tennis.
