The U.S. came away with Top 3 finishes in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions at the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition, the 14-and-under version of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions, held Aug. 3-8 in Prostejov, Czech Republic.

The 2015 ITF World Junior Tennis Competition featured 16 nations, all of which came through regional qualifying to advance to the championship round.

The U.S. girls fell just shy of winning a seventh World Junior Tennis title, falling in the championship match to Russia, 2-1. The U.S. girls had previously won titles in 1992, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013.

Still, it was an impressive showing for the American squad, which went undefeated in pool play and defeated Poland, 3-0, in the semifinals. The U.S. team was made up of Amanda Anisimova, Tyra Black and Caty McNally.

The U.S. boys also rolled through pool play, going unbeaten in three matches, before falling in the semifinals to Spain, 2-1. The American boys – Govind Nada, Brandon Nakashima (pictured above) and Adam Neff – rebounded to take the third-place match with a 3-0 victory over Canada.

Next up for the Americans in junior team competition is Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup (16-and-under), set to take place in Madrid, Sept. 29 through Oct. 4.
