Several of the top junior players in the country will gather in Mobile, Ala., March 7-12, to compete at the 2015 USTA National Spring Team Championships, an event that offers a unique team format with players vying for a national title.

The Spring Team Championships will feature a total of 256 players who will compete in four age divisions (12s, 14s, 16s and 18s) that consist of 32 boys and 32 girls in each divisions. Players will be assigned to 32 teams (16 boys, 16 girls).

The tournament includes two days of training and education followed by four days of competition. Each team will be designated a team coach selected by the USTA.

Sixteen-year-old Jessie Aney of Rochester, Minn., is among the top girls participating in the event. Aney, a North Carolina recruit, is currently ranked No. 3 in the USTA girls' 18s and is also a star hockey player at Rochester’s Century High School.  USTA Boys’ 18s Winter National champion William Genesen, 17, from Tulsa, Okla., will headline the boys’ 18s field.

Top prospects Elysia Bolton (14, Lake Forest, Ill.), Grace Joyce (15, Newton, Mass.), Hurricane Tyra Black (13, Boca Raton, Fla.) and Chase Wood (16, Heath, Texas) are among the girls’ and boys’ 16s participants.

The USTA National Spring Team Championships is a National Level 1 Ranking Tournament, the highest level of USTA national tournaments. Players must meet ranking requirements and be selected to compete.

Each year, more than 120,000 players compete in USTA junior tournaments. Players compete in levels of competition through earned advancement in the 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s age divisions. USTA junior tournaments help kids take their game as far as they want – high school, college or pros – or give them the opportunity to just have fun competing.
