Arthur Ashe Learning Center

Founded by Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, NJTL participants learn about the history and impact of Arthur Ashe through the online resource, Arthur Ashe Learning Center.      
 

National Student Athlete Competition

Children in grades 5-12 compete for $79,000 in college scholarships and children 10 and under compete for NJTL National Student-Athlete Competition plaques. Points are based on school reports cards, tournament results and USTA Jr. Team Tennis participation. New NJTL chapters are invited to apply to compete.

Life Skills Program

All NJTL Chapters have free access to the NJTL Life Skills Curriculum which utilizes tennis to empower youth with the skills, values and experiences they need to become responsible and successful citizens. Children participate in activities from the GAME, SET, and MATCH levels and earn a ertificate with each graduation.

With the support of the USTA's advocacy initiative, NJTL helps guide chapters through the political and logistical challenges of creating beneficial relationships at the local, state and federal level.  

Presidential Active Lifestyle Award

NJTL has joined forces with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative to help get kids moving through tennis.  Children who complete six weeks of daily physical activity through their local NJTL Chapter will receive a PALA Award certificate signed by President Obama.

NJTL routinely collects and shares the best practices of its network, which includes sources with more than 35 years of experience and several multi-million dollar nonprofit and afterschool youth development organizations.
