Cayce, S.C -- The talents displayed on court at Jr. Team Tennis National Championships are equally matched by the many off-court accomplishments of the players from around the country. When he’s not playing tennis, Benjamin Petry from Southwest’s Academy team is busy acting.

When Petry was 9-years-old, his mom took him to audition as an extra for "Suspect Zero." He had no experience, but the casting crew saw something in him and asked him to audition for a bigger role. He got the role with no acting training and his acting career has continued for the eight years since.

From 2004 to present, Perty has worked on eight titles from movies to TV series including "3:10 to Yuma" and "Breaking Bad." In 2007, he was nominated for a Young Artist Award for his work in the TV mini-series "The Lost Room."

"My favorite project so far has been ‘Doc West,’" said Petry. "We shot mostly in Santa Fe. It was pretty cool because I got to ride horses quite a bit."

The now 17-year-old tennis player from Albuquerque, N.M. said he is not really pursuing acting, "If it happens it happens. It’s really great experience either way."

Petry has played tennis for four years, but this is his first JTT season; he plans to play again next year. Regardless of where his on-screen talents take him, he knows he’ll be on the tennis court for years to come.
