Questions And Answers

What day should teams arrive?

Teams will need to arrive on Thursday. Coaches must check-in for their teams and attend a manadatory meeting beginning at 3:30 pm. An opening ceremony will be held at 6:00 pm at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center for all players, team managers/coaches. Spectators are welcome to attend.

Are there any group rates or discounts?

Is there an admission fee for spectators (parents, grandparents, etc.)?

No, there is no fee to enter Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center or Lexington County Tennis Complex. Costs incurred would be lunch and tickets to the player party.

What is the cost of entering the tournament?

The fee is $60.00 per player and a deposit of $250.00 is required. The deposit is a hold on a credit card to ensure the team will participate throughout the event.

What is the cost for tickets to the player party?

The cost is $25.00 per ticket for adults and $10.00 per ticket for 12 & under.  There is no cost for players and one team coach/manager.

What is the scoring?

Team score will be based on total number of games won.
2 out of 3 short sets (1st to 6); 7 point tiebreaker at 5-5 all
3rd set 10pt tiebreaker

What is the format?

All positions will be determined. Teams are not seeded but pulled out of a hat for their flight.

What time will play be completed on Sunday?

We anticipate the finals and awards ceremony will be completed by 2:00 p.m the latest.

Is there shuttle service to and from the courts?

No, teams will be responsible for their own transportation. Rental cars are available at the Columbia Airport.

Will there be a stringer on-site at the Tennis Center?

Yes, a stringer will be on-site through the entire event.

For the player gift exchange, how many items should we bring?

It is suggested that teams bring 12 items.

On the flag that our team is decorating, can we include our club’s logo on the flag?

Yes, logos or anything representing your team are welcomed. If you have any questions, please reach out to Tournament Director Alanna Broderick (ABroderick@usta.com).

Our team would like to shower on Sunday before flying home. Do the tennis facilities have locker rooms?

Yes, locker rooms are available.

Should the wavier form be submitted prior to the start of the tournament?

All of the forms should be submitted at Registration on Thursday evening. Original signatures are required.

How do we receive the travel/grant stipend?

The travel stipend is a matching grant and the National office will match up to $1,000.00 based upon the sections match and the requirements. Teams must complete the entire event. It is recommended the coach/manager speak to their section coordinator for the application process of the section grant.

If we submit a W-9 form, will we have to pay taxes on this at the end of the year?

The coaches receiving the grant will not be taxed or receive a 1099 for the grant they receive. They would only get a 1099 if they provided a professional service and was paid for that service.

What positions can double up (play twice)? At Sectionals, a player could only double up in doubles.

Only one boy and one girl can double up in each team match and it must occur in mixed doubles.

I advise no earler than 3pm on Sunday to book return flights.

USTA Junior Team Tennis brings kids together in teams to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other teams.
