Bryan Brothers, Father Wayne Bryan bring sparks to USA Team Tennis National Championships

The Bryan Brothers Band performs at USA Team Tennis National Championships in Tucson, AZ
What was the first thing Mike and Bob Bryan, as well as their father Wayne, did after winning their second consecutive Master's Cup title in Houston, Texas?  They hopped a plane to Tucson, Arizona where their band, The Bryan Brothers Band, would perform that very same day at the 2004 USA Team Tennis National Championship party.  Bob and Mike Bryan, #2 world-ranked doubles team and winners of seven professional titles this year, are the official spokespersons for USA Team Tennis.  "USA Team Tennis is a great way to excite young people about the game and to teach them how fun it is to play with a group" stated Bob Bryan in a previous interview with the
Wayne Brian being interviewed
USTA. "Sharing the excitement and social benefits of tennis with others is one of my favorite aspects of the sport," said Mike Bryan.  "Bob and I are thrilled to lend our support to the USA Team Tennis program and the USTA, which does a great job of bringing more young people into the game."After today's final round of competition, Wayne Bryan, a world renowned coach, put on a dazzling and fun tennis clinic for participants.  Players and coaches were running diving and laughing all over the place in tune with Wayne's series of games and drills.

PE4Life, who's mission is to inspire active healthy living by advancing the development of quality, daily physical education programs for all children, has partnered with the USTA's USA School Tennis program in an effort to train physical educators across the nation, for delivery of tennis in their curriculum.  Physical Educators from around the country, representing grades K-12, will attend one of three PE4Life Institutes in either Illinois, Iowa or Pennsylvania.  Anne Flannery, president and CEO of PE4Life, stated, "tennis is a great fitness and social activity that people can play for their entire life.  We want to make tennis accessible to every kid.  Our focus is on fun, which is a better way to keep kids involved longer."

The USTA will provide PE4Life institutes with a refined USA School Tennis curriculum and work directly with school across the country in providing equipment and resources to help deliver the program.  Marikate Murren, USTA's Product Manager-Youth Tennis, stated, "the USTA is excited to be allied with an organization that is helping to transform physical education across the country.  We have an obligation to help our youth stay healthy.  This is a great step toward that goal. "

PE4Life's goal is to have a training institute in every state by the year 2010.  They are a 501c-3 non-profit organization.  For more information, please visit www.pe4life.org .
