Cayce, S.C -- The final round of JTT National Championship flight play ended Saturday with Intermediate play at Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center and Advanced play at Lexington County Tennis Complex. Four teams from each division went on to battle for the Championship in afternoon games.
In Intermediate play, Texas ACE 10s rose above Flight 1 competition from Texas, Mid-Atlantic and Missouri Valley sections to take on Middle States’ Nassau Dare Doubles who knocked out Flight 2 teams from New England, Midwest and Southwest.
Flight 3 was won by SoCal’s Sunshine Storm who rolled past Florida (wild card), Northern and Pacific Northwest section teams to take on Flight 4 winner Eastern’s Basking Ridge team, who defeated Southern, Florida and Hawaii Pacific.
Nassau Dare Doubles defeated Texas ACE 10s and Basking Ridge defeated Sunshine Storm Saturday afternoon in the Intermediate 1st-4th bracket. Middle States and Eastern will face off in the Intermediate Championship match at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
In Advanced play, Hawaii Pacific’s Wailea Tennis Club went unchallenged in Flight 1, taking down Southern, NorCal and Eastern (wild card) sections. They moved on to face Flight 2 winner Texas’ ATA Dream Team who surpassed Mid-Atlantic, SoCal and New England (wild card) teams.
Flight 3 was won by Mid-Atlantic’s Virginia Beach team; the only wild card to move on to the winner’s bracket. They faced Flight 4 winner New England Solaris who defeated Florida, Middle States and Northern section competition.
The ATA Dream Team defeated Wailea Tennis Club and Solaris defeated Virginia Beach Saturday afternoon in the Advanced 1st-4th bracket. Texas will take on New England in the Advanced Championship match at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Teams that did not progress through the championship bracket will compete in consolation matches Sunday to determine their national rank in Intermediate and Advanced divisions. For a complete competition schedule and results, please visit www.ustajtt.com
