Champions Crowned at USTA League 7.0 and 9.0 Super Senior Nationals

9.0 Women Left to Right Champions – New England (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) Eszter Chase (Captain), Gail Smith, Irene Graham, Sue Kimball, Michelle Immler and Allyson Bolduc
SURPRISE, Ariz. – Four teams were crowned champions this afternoon at 7.0 and 9.0 USTA Super Senior League National Championships at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex, as women’s teams from the Texas and New England Sections, and men’s teams from the Southern and Southwest Sections claimed titles.

The 9.0 women from Chestnut Hill, Mass., representing the New England Section were the first team of the day to win a championship, as they clinched with a 3-0 victory over the Northern California Section ladies from Redwood City.  The Texas women from Houston earned third place with their 2-1 win over the Lake Forest ladies from the Southern California Section.
 
The 9.0 Southwest Section men from Phoenix, Ariz., defended their home region and defeated a team from Torrance, representing the Southern California Section., 2-1 to capture the title.  In third place action, the New England team from Beverly, Mass. beat a Pacific Northwest Section team from Mercer Island, Wash. by a score of 2-1.

The 7.0 Southern Section men’s team from Roswell, Ga., defeated the Pacific Northwest team from Salem, Ore. with a 2-1 decision.  A Southern California Section team from Palm Desert took third place with a 3-0 sweep over their in-state counterparts from the Northern California Section squad from Sunnyvale.

In the final contest of the tournament, the Texas Section women’s team from San Antonio downed a Eastern squad of Goshen, N.Y., 2-1 to win the 7.0 women’s championship.  The Northern California Section women of San Rafael, Calif. brought home third place with a 2-1 victory over a New England Section team from Beverly Mass.
