Want to be on the court at the the biggest American tennis extravaganza of the summer? We're looking for energetic tennis fans ages 14 and over to be a vital part of the action at our Grand Slam event as an official US Open ballperson! Below you will find the important details concerning the tryout and what to expect if selected for duty at the 2011 US Open.
First, please review our Ballperson Tryouts Waiver Release (PDF). Take the time to read carefully and fill out all the required fields. Anyone under 18 and not attending with a parent or legal guardian must complete the attached waiver in advance and bring it with them on June 23.
DETAILS:
Who: Ages 14 and older trying out for the coolest summer job in sports.
What: Approximately 80 sought-after positions as ballpersons for the 2011 US Open are up for grabs. Prospective ballpersons will be evaluated by US Open officials on their running, throwing and catching skills.
When: Thursday, June 23
Registration for General Public Tryouts begins at 3:00 p.m.
Evaluation process will begin at approximately 4:00 p.m., after a welcome by US Open Ballperson Director Tina Taps.
Where: USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Flushing, New York
Additional Information: US Open ballpersons are paid an hourly wage.
