Whatever your child’s age of ability level, there’s never been a better time or more simple ways to get them involved in tennis—a sport that pays life-long dividends.

Wherever you are, tennis is coming your way in March, with myriad special events and programs rolling out across the country designed to get more kids playing the sport for a lifetime. Throughout the month, a variety of organizers including clubs, after-school programs, parks and recreation agencies, Community Tennis Associations and others will be hosting youth registration events and Play Days and launching Kids’ Tennis Clubs as part of the USTA’s largest-ever youth tennis recruitment effort.
Kicking off the month-long festivities on March 5 is the annual Tennis Night in America celebration, which will be highlighted by the BNP Paribas Showdown, returning to New York’s Madison Square Garden for its fifth consecutive year. This year, the event showcases matches featuring Maria Sharapova vs. Caroline Wozniacki, and Roger Federer vs. Andy Roddick. Again this year, a 10 and Under Tennis demonstration featuring local kids will precede the evening’s play.
"Tennis Night in America is the perfect venue to kick off our latest youth registration efforts," says Kurt Kamperman, Chief Executive, Community Tennis, USTA. "The night is sure to generate momentum for youth tennis and create excitement for spring and summer programs at facilities nationwide."
The youth registration events held in March not only are held nationwide, but all are friendly for kids of all ages and skill levels, providing children with a fun, positive and enjoyable tennis experience. These events also allow parents and kids to learn more about upcoming programming and show parents how the sport of tennis has been sized right for kids. Play Days introduce children to the fun of competition in a low-pressure and social setting, while Kids’ Tennis Clubs allow kids to sample tennis through supervised play in order to develop and enhance their skills while gaining confidence.
In short, whatever your child’s age of ability level, there’s never been a better time or more simple ways to get them involved in tennis—a sport that pays life-long dividends. Make this March a month to remember—March into Tennis!
