Donald Young balanced playing on the USTA Pro Circuit and the ATP World Tour to reach a career-best ranking of No. 39 after upsetting two seeded players en route to the fourth round of the 2011 US Open and reaching the final at the ATP event in Bangkok. Among his other results in 2011, Young reached the semifinals in Washington and the third round of Indian Wells as a qualifier, where he upset Andy Murray in straight sets in the second round. On the USTA Pro Circuit, Young won the Tallahassee Challenger, finished runner-up at Savannah and reached the semifinals at Winnetka.
