CiCi Bellis, Michaela Gordon and Claire Liu teamed together to capture the World Junior Tennis girls’ title for the United States, defeating Russia, 2-0, in the final of the premier 14-and-under world team competition held in Prostejov, Czech Republic. The win gave the U.S. its sixth World Junior Tennis girls’ title since the competition launched in 1991 – more than any nation – and its first since winning four straight championships, 2007-10. Bellis and Liu both won their singles matches against No. 2 seed Russia to clinch the win for Team USA. Bellis had an outstanding competition overall, going 8-0 in singles and doubles play over five team matches without losing a set in singles. The team was coached by USTA National Coach Richard Ashby.
