D&I efforts in Wyoming bring tennis to 1,200 Native American students

USTA-Wyoming assisted Wyoming Indian Elementary School (WIES) in receiving an ICON grant from USTA Serves. Dave Boon, USTA-Wyoming executive director, has made three trips to WEIS and conducted training for both their PE teachers, as well as three other individuals who are running the Kids Tennis Club. The PE classes will reach all 350 students at the school and the Kids Tennis Club, which had 55 kids sign up, is off and running. Read More

The staff of the USTA, based in White Plains, N.Y., and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, located in the borough of Queens, have been working to help gather and donate some of these necessities. Carlos Hernandez joins USTA Texas

Carlos Hernandez is one of the newest additions to the USTA family, starting in June as the Diversity & Inclusion staff liaison at the USTA Texas Section office. Carlos graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Sport Management and a minor in Business Foundations. He is currently working towards a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University in Sport Management. Read More
