Four-time Grammy Award-winning rocker Lenny Kravitz will help to get the 2013 US Open off on the right note, signing on as the featured performer for the Opening Night Ceremony on Monday, Aug. 26. Kravitz, who has sold more than 38 million albums worldwide in his career, will perform his hit "Are You Gonna Go My Way?" as part of the evening’s festivities, which annually kick off the tournament with a healthy dose of energy and excitement.

Kravitz, one of the most prolific and talented musicians in the business, has long been a favorite of music fans everywhere, his distinctive style combining the influences of 1960s and 70s soul with rock and funk. His talents as a producer and writer are equally legendary within the industry, having worked with such artists as Madonna, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler and more.

Kravitz won four consecutive Grammy Awards for "Best Male Rock Vocal Performance" from 1999 to 2002, setting a record for most consecutive wins in a category for a male performer. He is currently recording a new album slated for release in 2014.

ESPN will carry Kravitz’s Opening Night performance live.

In addition to  the rocker’s performance, the evening also will feature a welcome from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the singing of the national anthem by 11-year-old Frenie Acoba, currently featured on Broadway in the hit musical Matilda. The colors will be presented by the FDNY Color Guard and NYPD Honor Guard.

All told, Opening Night of the 2013 US Open promises to be one unforgettable evening—a fitting start for tennis’ grandest Slam.
