Northern California 6.0 and 10.0 and Texas 8.0 Win National Titles

Tucson, Ariz.--- The USTA Northern California 6.0 and 10.0 teams from Fresno and Gold River respectively, and the USTA Texas Section 8.0 squad from Dallas captured national championships at the 2010 USTA League Mixed Doubles Adult National Championships, held Nov. 19-21, at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort.

The Gold River 10.0 team defeated a squad from the USTA Mid-Atlantic Section from Richmond, Va. 2-1, in the finals, after defeating a team from Sarasota, Fla. in the semifinal round.

This Northern California 10.0 level team, which plays at the Gold River Racquet Club, is captained by Isabella Kling and features Brian Heiland, Jeff Shin, Kelly Pace-Wilson, Laura McGaffigan and Steven Fabela.

In the third place game for the 10.0 teams, the Pacific Northwest Section team from Vancouver, Wash. defeated the Sarasota squad, 2-1.

At the 8.0 level, the Dallas team defeated a USTA Northern California Section team from Santa Clara 2-1 in the finals, after beating the USTA Southwest Section representative from Phoenix, Ariz. 2-1.

The Texas 8.0 level team, which plays at the Springpark Racquet Club, is captained by Alan Abbruzzese and features Danielle White, Susan Doyle, Eugene Davis, Rafael Ledezma, Elizabeth Diano, Michael Kelly, and Melanee Rackley.

Third place went to the Phoenix squad which defeated the USTA Southern representative from Memphis, Tenn., 2-1 in the consolation match.

The Fresno 6.0 team defeated the USTA Hawaii Section team from Oahu, 2-1 in the finals, after defeating the USTA Pacific Northwest Section representative from Issaquah, Wash., 3-0 in the semifinals.

The Northern California 6.0 level team, which plays at Clovis North High School, is captained by David Baker and features Matt Spain, Benjamin Kuo, Cindy Zeiner, Heather Cash, Jeff Klippert, Mary Wigh, Patricia Pope and Janet Cassabon.

Third place for the 6.0 teams went the Issaquah squad which won its consolation matchup 3-0 over the USTA Eastern Section team from New Jersey 3-0.
