Combined junior and collegiate events to be held

More of America’s top juniors will compete against some of the nation’s best collegians in two new events -- the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational at Disney (boys/men) at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., and the USTA Collegiate Invitational presented by Adidas (girls/women) at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Portland, Ore., each held Nov. 2-4.

Leading the eight junior girls competing in Portland is Gabrielle Andrews (15, Pomona, Calif.), the 2012 US Open and Australian Open junior doubles champion who helped the United States capture its second Junior Fed Cup championship this September in Barcelona, Spain. Joining Andrews are 2012 Easter Bowl finalist Brooke Austin (16, Indianapolis), Jennifer Brady (17, Boca Raton, Fla.), Caroline Doyle (16, San Francisco), Jessica Ho (15, Wexford, Pa.), Dasha Ivanova (16, Beaverton, Ore.), Claire Liu (12, Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Kimberly Yee (16, Las Vegas). They will compete against players from Duke, Georgia, Michigan, Portland, Texas A&M and UCLA.

Among the eight junior boys playing in Orlando is Martin Redlicki (17, Hawthorn Woods, Ill.), a finalist at the USTA International Hard Court Championships in August, along with Deiton Baughman (16, Carson, Calif.), Gage Brymer (17, Irvine, Calif.), George Goldhoff (17, Irvine, Calif)., Roy Lederman (17, Miami), Chase Perez-Blanco (16, Miami), Ronnie Schneider (18, Bloomington, Ind.) and Ryan Smith (17, Weston, Fla). They’ll take on collegians from California, Central Florida, Columbia, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Penn State, Tulsa and Southern California.

These events are the last of three tournaments this fall combining premier juniors and collegians in singles and doubles competition. The boys/men will compete in multiple singles draws and two 16-team doubles draws. The girls/women will play singles in eight pools, with three collegians and one junior in each pool, and doubles in one 16-team draw with a back draw.

The rosters of juniors were selected by USTA Player Development based on ATP and WTA rankings (if applicable), national junior rankings and results and a selection of younger players for developmental purposes.
