After two days of hard fought competition at the Amanda & Stacey Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, six teams advanced from the pool play with perfect 3-0 records. They will be joined for Sunday’s semi-finals by the two other teams emerging from pool play.
The eight teams advancing all have one thing in common. They all expect to be crowned USTA League Presented by Chrysler 2.5 Adult champions. Two of the teams will be correct.
The four women’s teams advancing to Sunday’s finals include: undefeated squads from the Carribbean (Guanynabo, Puerto Rico), New England (Haverhill, Mass.) and Florida (Pensacola) plus Intermountain (Belgrade, Mont.) – the only ladies squad not advancing with a perfect 3-0 record. Florida and the Caribbean will battle for a spot in the finals against the winner of New England vs. Intermountain.
The men’s champion will emerge from one of these teams: Pacific Northwest (Seattle), the Caribbean (Gurabo, Puerto Rico) and Intermountain (Salt Lake City) -- who posted 3-0 records in pool play -- or the Texas team (Tyler). The Texan team emerged with a 2-1 record, making it the wild card entry with the best second place team in the three flights. In Sunday’s semi-finals, the Caribbean will play Pacific Northwest and Intermountain will battle Texas.
