In an all-American match for the gold medal in mixed doubles at the Rio Olympics, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock prevailed in a high-quality final on Sunday over Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram.

The United States is guaranteed to win a gold medal in mixed doubles at the Rio Olympics after the teams of Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram and Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock won their semifinal matches Saturday.

Steve Johnson and Jack Sock took home the first tennis medal of the 2016 Olympic Games, teaming to defeat the No. 7 seeds Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil of Canada, 6-2, 6-4, in the men’s doubles bronze medal match. Also, with victories by both Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram and Sock and Bethanie Mattek-Sands Friday night, Team USA is guaranteed a medal in mixed doubles.

Team USA remained firmly in the medal hunt on Day 6 in Rio. Madison Keys guaranteed herself a spot in the medal round, Steve Johnson booked his place in the quarterfinals and the duos of Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram and Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock both opened their mixed doubles campaigns with victories.

Steve Johnson advanced in both singles and doubles Tuesday at the Rio Olympics, defeating Gastao Elias to move into the singles round of 16 and pairing with Jack Sock to advance to the semifinals in men's doubles. Madison Keys also reached the quarterfinals in women's singles after outlasting Carla Suarez Navarro.

Bryan brothers named 2012-13 USOC Team of the Year

Bob and Mike Bryan completed the career Golden Slam at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, winning a gold medal in men's doubles to complement the Grand Slam titles won at the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. For their efforts, they were named the 2012-13 USOC Team of the Year.

Serena dominates Sharapova to win Olympic gold

Serena Williams became only the second woman to complete a career Golden Slam when she won her first Olympic singles gold medal by beating Maria Sharapova, 6-0, 6-1, in the Olympic final. The victory completed a remarkable run of domination by the No. 4-seeded Williams, who lost only 17 games in her six matches.

Fighting Bryans complete Golden Slam

The Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, finished off the "golden slam" when they bested Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, at Wimbledon. They are the first men's doubles team in the Open era to hold all four Grand Slam titles at one time, and the only team in history to do so with an Olympic gold medal.
